ITK President Obed Says 'Spicy' Times Call for Big Investment in Arctic Marine Infrastructure

Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed says that "'Spicy' times in the world call for 'generational' investments in Canada’s Arctic."


Speaking at the Ingiulik Nunavut Shipping Summit in Iqaluit today, President Obed remarked that "It is an unacceptable reality that our 51 communities are so underserviced from a marine infrastructure end."


The Port of Grays Bay will be the first deep-water dock in the western Arctic, making marine transportation safer, facilitating community resupply across the Kitikmeot Region, and reinforcing Inuit and Canadian Arctic sovereignty.
