Grays Bay Port and Road Project continues to receive national profile as a key strategy to increase Canadian exports and trade.
Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke today in Clarington, Ontario as the PM continues to announce nation-building projects to strengthen the Canadian economy and respond to trade challenges.
Nathaniel Dove from Global News asked the Prime Minister “Given your commitment last night to see non-U.S. exports eventually double, how does today’s announcement fit into achieving that objective? Has there been any interest or commitments from Europeans on these projects?”
PM Carney responded: “First, not just eventually double, double within the next decade, so much more specific. You set a goal, but you have to have strategies which are consistent with that goal. Part of those strategies which are consistent with that goal are new energy and trade corridors. A series of LNG and other opportunities. Reinforcing of the Port of Montreal at Contrecoeur. Creating more capacity. Grays Bay Port in Nunavut. Creating capacity so we can export more.”
