Today, King Charles III delivered the Speech from the Throne to open the Parliament of Canada. The King reiterated the Government of Canada's commitment to "invest to strengthen its presence in the North, which is an integral part of Canada, as this region faces new threats" and to "the creation of long-term wealth and prosperity with Indigenous Peoples."

Following the Speech from the Throne, Prime Minister Mark Carney provided more details on these commitments. In an interview with CBC's David Cochrane, the Prime Minister said that "Canadians want ... broader corridors, for example Grays [Bay] in Nunavut, that open up whole swaths of the country to new trade. They want critical minerals so that we are sovereign in the most important components of the future."

Grays Bay discussion starts at 19:15
