For the second year in a row, the Western Premiers' Conference joint communique highlighted the importance of Grays Bay to the economic future of Western Canada.

"Building on their 2025 Memorandum of Understanding on Economic Corridors, Western Premiers today released a report highlighting provincial and territorial collaboration, priority infrastructure projects across the West, and strategic long-term investment opportunities. The report outlines a shared vision for port-to-port-to-port trade corridors across Western Canada, including enhanced access to the Ports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Churchill, and Grays Bay."

The Western Premiers' report calls for the development of the Grays Bay, stating that "Development of climate-resilient, all-season road infrastructure and a deep-water port at Grays Bay improve access to remote mining regions and connect inland Northern corridors to Arctic coastal access points, supporting long-term economic development and sovereignty objectives. The establishment of this corridor supports critical minerals development, improves supply chain efficiency for Northern communities, enhances food security, and integrates Arctic ports into Canada’s broader national transportation network while reinforcing Canada’s sovereignty and security with dual-use opportunities (community-military)."

WKR is proud to be a part of this port-to-port-to-port strategy, along with the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the Port of Prince Rupert, and the Port of Churchill (Arctic Gateway Group).
